CNA Certified Nursing Assistant duties and responsibilities

A certified nursing assistant (CNA) is a healthcare professional who provides basic care for patients in a variety of settings, such as nursing homes, hospitals, and assisted living facilities. CNAs work under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and are responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Aiding patients with ADLs, such as bathing, dressing, meal planning and preparation
  • Accompany you to appointments
  • Assist with ambulating
  • Grocery shopping, Run errands
  • Medication pick up, Medication reminder and assistance
  • Measuring and documenting vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature
  • Turning and repositioning bedridden patients to prevent bed sores
  • Collecting specimens for laboratory tests
  • Monitoring and noting any changes in patient’s conditions
