CNA Certified Nursing Assistant duties and responsibilities
A certified nursing assistant (CNA) is a healthcare professional who provides basic care for patients in a variety of settings, such as nursing homes, hospitals, and assisted living facilities. CNAs work under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and are responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Aiding patients with ADLs, such as bathing, dressing, meal planning and preparation
- Accompany you to appointments
- Assist with ambulating
- Grocery shopping, Run errands
- Medication pick up, Medication reminder and assistance
- Measuring and documenting vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature
- Turning and repositioning bedridden patients to prevent bed sores
- Collecting specimens for laboratory tests
- Monitoring and noting any changes in patient’s conditions
