This person is a graduate of an approved educational program for Licensed Practical nurses. She must maintain a current Florida State license to be able to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse. A Licensed Practical Nurse operates under the direction of a Registered Nurse or a Physician and may provide nursing services in the home or a hospital, ALF or nursing home.

  • Measuring and documenting vital signs
  • Assisting with ADLs, such as bathing, dressing, and eating
  • Administering prescriptions as prescribed by a physician
  • Wound care and bandage changes
  • Collecting specimens for laboratory tests
  • Monitoring and noting any changes in patient’s conditions

Although LPNs have less responsibility and autonomy then RNs, they play a crucial role in the delivery of patient care. Their skills and knowledge help to ensure that patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care.
